EVAPORTORS & FREEZE DRIERS
In laboratory and industrial settings, evaporators and freezers represent the two ends of thermal processing: removing solvents via heat/vacuum versus preserving samples via extreme cold.
- Evaporators
Evaporators are used to concentrate substances or remove solvents from a solution.
- Rotary Evaporators (Rotovaps): The standard for solvent removal. They use a rotating flask to create a thin film, increasing surface area for faster evaporation under vacuum.
- Centrifugal Evaporators: Use centrifugal force and vacuum to evaporate multiple samples simultaneously without “bumping” (boiling over).
Freeze dryers (lyophilizers) are specialized machines that use a low-temperature dehydration process called sublimation to remove moisture from food or scientific samples while preserving their original structure and nutritional value. For 2026, options range from compact benchtop units for laboratories and small businesses to massive industrial systems for large-scale production
